Prof. Yishay Yafeh – Academic Director

Yishai Yafe

Yishay Yafeh holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University (1993), and has taught at Oxford, Montreal and the Hebrew University. He has served Vice Dean (2010-2012) and Dean (2012-2016) of the Hebrew University’s School of Business Administration. His research interests are corporate governance, financial intermediation, the economies of East Asia, and economic and financial history. Professor Yafeh has served as an advisor to the Bank of Israel, the Israel Securities Authority and the International Monetary Fund, and as a member of several government-appointed committees. His research has been published, among others, in the Journal of Finance, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Economic Literature, the Journal of Business and the Review of Finance. He co-authored, together with Paolo Mauro and Nathan Sussman, the book Emerging Markets and Financial Globalization (Oxford University Press, 2006). Yishay Yafeh is a Research Fellow of the London-based CEPR and the Brussels-based ECGI.

Dr. Dan Marom – Chairman

Dr. Dan Marom

Dr. Dan Marom holds a PhD in Finance from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an MBA (Cum Laude), and a BSC in Electrical Engineering. He is a faculty member at The Hebrew University’s Business School, heading the Impact Investing Institute. He is a thought leader & author of pioneering books in the alternative finance/crowdfunding domain. Dr. Marom’s current focus is on empowering impactful health projects and ventures that are targeting underserved communities in emerging markets.

In 2010, Dr. Marom co-authored a pioneering book in the field of crowdfunding - “The Crowdfunding Revolution”. The 2nd edition was published in 2012 by McGraw-Hill. His second co-authored book, “Crowdfunding: The corporate era” (2015) was published by Elliott & Thompson. His latest co-authored book “CrowdAssets: Crowdfunding for policy makers” was published in mid-2020 by WSP.

In the last decade Dr. Marom has been fortunate to speak passionately about crowdfunding & impact around the globe, teach students, consult entrepreneurs, corporations and policy makers, invest and establish ventures in the fintech filed, alongside holding several board memberships and advisory board roles. He is advising international organizations such as the World Bank, the European Commission and other organizations and foundations that are operating in the alternative finance and impact fields. He is a frequent speaker in leading conferences and seminars, also writing extensively about his research projects & interests.
